Home to many great Modern Arnis camps! I got two levels of brown belts there, and my 1st and 2nd black (we also had a zero-level black, which I got in Buffalo). I considered going to MSU, and actually traveled there my senior year to see it and compete for a scholarship.

Isn't the person with the highest post count really seen as the person with lots to *say*? And that could be interpreted as a good thing or a bad thing.

Well, the person with the highest post count on MT said the bulk of it in staff areas, which has nothing to do with the martial arts!

Just like the person with the most reputation could really be seen as the person with the most popular things to *say*. Which could also be interpreted as a good or bad thing.

Yes, again, it could be interpreted either way. In both cases I worry how new users will interpret them. Bob Hubbard and I have, by far, the highest post counts, yet his and my instructor is a member here with a much lower post count. What does that say? Reputation definitely has popularity poll aspects to it. Is that good?

How about this, Math Master? That the numbers don't always mean what we think they mean?

But...then why report those numbers? In both cases (post count and rep.), that can be turned off via software. If you say they're misleading...why not disable them? Reputation isn't even the default, I think. In math. we are usually reluctant to report numbers that we know are unreliable.

community and comradrie

Yes, that's what's formed here, and that's a good thing.

Have pity on us, Oh Great Arnisador ... not all of us have "bump"ed our way to greatness.

Well, I'm still reported as most active in the Admin Lounge, where about 10% of my posts are, and that doesn't even count other staff areas, so I think that referring to my attempts to reinvigorte martial arts-related threads with regard to my post count is to miss the point. The single most common post I've made is likely "Please, keep the discussion polite and respectful" and in fact I should get a royalty every time anyone else uses it! I think bumping old threads periodically, as new people come on and as the original poster, who may still be subsribed to the thread and hence receive an e-mail notice, wanders away from visiting the site, can be useful, and that it creates the impression that some of the barely-visited fora are active...but then, my focus remains on the martial arts. I get enough chit-chat from my colleagues at work!

Still, this thread is fun, and I enjoy chatting with people I e-know (or in your case, people whom I have actually met and even done martial arts with!) on it.

Well, hello there Hand Sword! I'm not going to be up for much longer myself, just wanted to stop in for a little bit. I'm still trying to catch up on some much needed sleep, so I'll be a little hit and miss for the next few days...

Good luck! I've been trying to catch up on sleep for a long time. If I can't, I hope you can.

I was away on vacation last week, and went to bed late/ woke up early. I've been napping often when I got back yesterday and today, so I'm being a bit of a night owl.

Well, I do believe I'm going to turn in now, but I'll be back tomorrow!

Good Morning LP...Another day that I could sleep in I awake at the stroke of 7...It's almost a record, normally I'm up at 6....

Hey Brian!

Pretty good, but cold here, as I'm sure it is up there as well.

A deer ran into my truck last night on my way home from class! No read damage was done though, I was driving our old truck luckily!

How are things for you?
