More boxing this week:

Getting a smoother and tighter form and finding "the straight in the curved" on the lid, making for better transitions with the inletting:

Footwork:

Continuing to develop the combos of wood stain and gun oil on the leather, and leather dye and leather cream on the wood. Polishing the techniques of riveting and application of the finishes:

If I had the money, I'd definitely buy one. It looks like the ideal travel case.

That's nice of you to say :)

They're still a little too rough around the edges - literally - that I'd be ok taking money for one.

I like the clean sharp edges, but it looks unfinished. I've done mock-ups to see how burnishing transitions from the bonded portion of leather and wood to the lid, and it looks messy. Any kind of liquid or cream that would color the edges bleeds to the underside/inside and I'm wanting to keep that as clean as possible to retain the natural tanned leather if only for aesthetics. A brown felt pen might be a simple fix...

My sister and I have very different parenting styles. She does all this modern parenting with patient explanations and all that. I'm more of an old fashioned "Do it. Now. Because I said so" kind of guy, but the irony is they listen to me!

Looks good 👍

“Unfinished” 🤔 good example of “taiji”
I took one to the local shoe repair shop where I buy my leather and asked one of the cobblers if there were any tips or tricks, and she said people don't really care about that and that a lot of pricey leather shoes have the same edge.

Taiji...a work that's never done

Sod makiwara for the moment until I can build a real one. For now, I've hung up my bag and found my bag gloves

Also, the self employment is working out great. I now have 3 clients and put together I'm making nearly twice what I would be getting on benefits

A's wife passes away. A marries girl X. A's son B then marries girl X's sister Y.

- Father A now becomes son B's brother in law.
- Sister X now becomes sister Y's mother in law.
