Any chance of making a job change?

I suppose that could be a possibility, but giving up 27 years of service would be tough ... just a tad more to go for retirement. One of the reasons that I opened a school now, so that it can grow and compensate my retirement income.

My principal looked at me and asked why I came in (I'm sick - I had a fever of nearly 101 last night, although it's dropped some this morning); I told her I had a meeting 2nd period (9:30) and she told me to leave after it happened, so I came home after a different meeting scheduled for the same time - the parent never came for the IEP meeting I came in for (without which I'd have just stayed home anyway).

Definately a pet peeve of mine, when you have an appointment, keep it ... as you were doing. I just hate it when others disrespect another by not showing and not even having the common courtesy of making a phone call. Very selfish.

Well, the really annoying part is that this is the second time this particular parent has missed this meeting - I talked to her on Thursday when she missed the first one, and rescheduled with her for this morning. Per district policy, I will reschedule again, and if she doesn't show up this time, I'll hold the meeting without her and mail the results home - and call, in case she has questions, because I don't like holding special education staffings without parents, but I can only chase them around for so long.

Well, that's a plan!

I certainly hope this is not another case of the parent not caring about the child's well-being.

I don't think so - both parents showed up for conferences - they're just not organized, and there's a toddler at home. But it's still annoying.

Afternoon all just got up was absolutely tired and sick. How is the LPY going, looking pretty good so far.
