As long as everything is ok and you and the boys are having a great Summer..
Great Summer so far. Finished the project boat enough to get the old Gal out on the water for the first time in 26 years.And work has been crazy, which is a two edge sword. Planning on leaving for 3 weeks of vacation in a week and life is good.
Excellent..Some of my BEST memories of youth are being out on the boat with Dad..

Have to relate a story about the Ruffians. Last week-end I took them to a Bluegrass Festival. I had been telling them about this festival for a week or so and they were all raring to go. I personally don't really care for a lot of Bluegrass, but figured the boys should have the chance to hear it and make up their own minds. Plus a few free week-end passes for doing the lighting up there didn't hurt either you know.
Well during the Saturday line-up of bands, the oldest and the youngest looked as though I had just delivered a dog poo sandwich to them, and the middle two were on their feet clapping and just enthralled by the music. After a couple of hours of torture for #1 and #4 son I pulled the plug and we went home. When asked about the festival, the youngest (age 4) said "We walked by the campers, we walked by the music, we walked by the food, we even went by the bathrooms; and there was NO Bluegrass, it was all green!" Needless to say I about died, here he was thinking it was actual grass that was colored blue and all he got to see was some bands play music. No wonder he looked so ripped off the whole time we were there. It never even entered my thought process that he would take it so literal.

Yeah this old girl is a 1958 Lone Star El Dorado. it's 18 feet long and really deep. I took her out in some close 4' chop by myself and didn't take a drop over the bow. Came back in totally dry. What a great old thing.
I too remember long summer days out on the lakes with Dad and even Grandpa. I hope my sons memory's are as nice as mine are.
Dad's first was a 14 footer that came from Sears and was made by Elgin..The BEST was a 17 and 1/2 footer wood boat made by a company called T & T..One of the best riding boats in the water..

Know the ones you are talking about. We had a T & T when we lived in Sault Ste. Marie, MI They were made by Thompson. Here a picture like the one we had.
What a small world...Dad repainted his blue..Looked a whole lot bigger when he circled around to pick you up when you went down while skiing..

You will not believe this... light blue with a bark blue accent stripe. 85 HP Evinrude and the old girl would ride as smooth as silk. Looked a bit small when pulling along a 1000' lake freighter though.

Well I have to go put the dreaded ice pack on and drop another Advil. Kind of tweaked the back Monday morning and Holy Hanna, I'm glad I don't have chronic back pain. Just a little catch and release feeling and I thought I was going to cry. Man I couldn't even breathe hardly. Had to lay right down on the kitchen floor because I couldn't stand up to save my life. When the Ruffians came down for breakfast I was finally able to get turned over and stand up again. Think I scared a few years off the oldest son though

Dad's was a dark blue, it looked like a steamship coming at you..Had a 100 hp Merc..Somewhere is a photo of that boat pulling 5 skiers..In 1969 a tornado slammed into NE Ohio on the 4th of July..The wood boat was the only one that didn't sink..
Dad sold it after meeting another boater who found out it was a T and T..The price went up when Dad told the guy he still had the mfg logos that he removed to make a spot for the name plate..
