Gah... had a relapse with the ol' drinking. I was drunk for 10 days. So I've referred myself back to the DDAS programme and I'm tapering gradually, following the plan. I should be sober at the beginning of next week, ready for the kids to visit. I never, ever drink around children- I know more than most what it does to people. The only good thing is I know the drill now.
Praying for mental and spiritual strength. Are you in a good AA program?

It's the local drug and alcohol service. I'm doing well with tapering down, and I'm receiving behavioural support. Also, got my workout in after I got home from work :)
I am not offering this as either a sponsor nor a drug counselor, though I have been one (drug counselor) and know many (sponsors). I am offering this as someone who can be empathetic, and knows the tools of the trade.

If you need someone to talk with either when you are considering a relapse, or in the middle of one, and you don't wish to speak with anyone who knows you personally, feel free to reach out to me. Send me a message and I'll give you my number; you can call me day or night, I always keep my phone at volume in case I get emergency calls.

Thank you so much, I will ❤️

Dude, tapering is not easy. I never want to go through this ever again
Keep that in mind next time you drink.

That said, there are drugs to make it easier. Im not sure how the system works in the uk, but if its like the us, if you go to a hospital, they can offer meds that help you through the process, lettung you quit cold Turkey without having to taper, and without feeling like **** the whole way. Even if you dont eant to stick around through rehab, 2-3 days of detox in a controlled environment, where you don't havr to worry about any withdrawals killing you, imo is much better than spending a week tapering down and being in hell the whole time.
