Also wanting to revisit my Mandarin! Am much better at writing/reading than speaking, but just love writing it
I need to work on both for Beijing and Taipei. Definitely if we end up in Xian. But Hong Kong, not so much, many speaker English and Mandarin, but some prefer Cantonese. Last time I worked on Cantonese the only person that could understand me was my friend from Guangzhou who spoke English, Mandarin and Cantonese. My brain couldn’t separate the 2 Chinese dialects

I think I am going through withdrawals.....do you realize it has been over a MONTH since I was even in a Guan, Kwoon or Dojo.... and it has been about 3 months since I actually was able to TRAIN with other people due to this STUPID shoulder. So Thursday a I think I will stop by the Guan/Dojo I was doing push hands in before all this dang injury, if for nothing else to just say hello and feel like myself for a minute or two. And then Saturday a friend is having the grand openning for his new Dojo, and I'm going.....and I am seriously thinking of giving my Wing Chun sifu a call in a couple weeks for a private lesson or two, to see if my shoulder can handle it.

I mean beating up a Mook Jong helps, but it just is not the same.

Me too. Trouble is, getting back to class is impossible for the moment as I have about a year's worth of work to do and about 3 months in which to do it, and that's only at the one place. So I'm concentrating on getting my fitness up to standard, which has always been my biggest limiting factor. Also, my makiwara is taking a fair amount of abuse.

Would be, but I tend to have enough work when I am home, Mrs Wu makes sure of that. It is when I am in my office, I now have virtually nothing to do.
Haha. I get it. I was a little tongue in check, but the idea is you do both jobs at the same time. I think ideally, these guys are holding down two, three or even four full time jobs, juggling them throughout the day. They may work 10 hour days, but are taking home two to four full time paychecks.

The goal is to be fully successful at every job so that there’s never any suspicion that they’re splitting their time. I’m frankly on the fence about it. It’s obviously not entirely on the up and up, but I respect the hustle.

Some of the CMA threads over the last few years make me feel like I need an advanced degree in either metaphysics, philosophy, or mysticism to understand what's being said. The cynic in me thinks that's intentional on the part of CMA leaders.
Think 1/4 reality/fact, and 3/4 wuxia in some cases

A whole lot of BS in a whole lot of cases.

My favorite pickup line of all time... I never used it, but I read it in an article talking about pickup lines being stupid and belittling and how you needed to complement a woman's intelligence if you wanted the line to work.

"My, you have rather intelligent and self sufficient looking legs"

Actually I did use it once, on the woman I was engaged to between wives..it worked great šŸ‘
Of course we were already engaged at the time...but it worked :D

Previous to our actual relationship, I saw my wife looking in a mirror putting on lipstick. Seeing an opportunity, thinking I was very clever, I said ā€œCould I have some of that?ā€ and posed for a kiss. She proceeded to draw clownishly red lipstick on my lips, cap it, and walk away wordlessly. Needless to say, I was in love.

Welp, the rain has given me a day off and not one day too soon. I am too tired to think of a suitable simile for how tired I am.

Finished setting up a very bare bones version of my website, just to have something out there. Thanks to a godaddy billing issue (they signed me up for a free trial I didn't want, that messed my dns up), it took like 4 hours to actually get it published, but any changes at this point should be super simple.

Are you going to create a little bio about you and your experiences?

Got to, and had to, and he deserved it, call a guy 笨蛋 (bĆØndĆ n) today.... luckily I'm not in China so I didn't end up in a fight. Tell me all Asians are the same, and the Chinese are evil, expect that as my minimum response.

I have a friend who went with the following:
"Fiddlestick me if I'm wrong, but isn't your name Gertrude?"
"No"
"Haha! Now you have to fiddlestick me!"
He swears that this gets him laid. I have a hard time believing that.

I wish you the very best in your venture and best wishes for great success.

Are you combining the styles or keeping them separate?
If combining, can you share some of your curriculum/drilling ideas? With the exception of how we approach self defense, I have kept most of my training (styles) separate. That said, we have always been an outlier TKD school that has always had techniques to the face and takedown/grappling.

I'm out at the moment, if I haven't replied by tomorrow remind me. Depending on how detailed I get, it may end up being a dm rather than a public post.

But the short answer is I've taken what i consider to be one of the core principles of shaolin kempo, and a core principle of kali, that i feel work very well together and built everything around that. Then included kung fu primarily breathing and muscle control drills to help people loosen their muscles, rather than the more direct martial aspects (which is why I'm not including it in the name).
