So far, so good. I've been doing a lot of driving back and forth to Arizona to hang out with my parents, doing a lot of work on both houses.

How are you? You retired yet?
Good to hear

Long drive. When I get there I imagine my driving will be between my houses and wherever my daughter lives. The boy is settled in and working in Philadelphia and doing great. I have not yet had to go there at all. Just get the occasional phone call from time to time

Otherwise, doing OK, they transferred me to another office, right before my supervisor retired...all I can say is it is closer to my house....other than that, would rather not be there either.

No not retired yet, could be, but hanging on for insurance coverage for my daughter while she is in college. Retirement will be in Spring 2027 some time between March and May. That is unless the annoy me to much, then it will be sooner

2 of my current six students are going to be leaving in March - it's a father daughter duo, and the daughter has her swim season starting in march. She said she's going to come back once it's over, but we shall see. Classes are just going to get a bit smaller for a while

Stay with it, and don't look at this as a source for discouragement. Attrition is part and parcel in this business.
Both of our main schools have a dance/ballet school and one also has a gymnastic/tumbling/cheerleading business as well. "People 'graze' around like cattle" is the phrase I often use.
Whether they stay for 6-months or 16-years it still feels damn good when someone comes up to in public and gushes about how great their MA's classes were.

One suggestion you may want to try is when it is getting near the end of her swim season, send her a promo to remind her about classes. The more personal (in the right way) the better. For me, a mailing and a text seems to work the best.

Definitely not discouragement. Swim is something she's already established, and I wouldn't expect something she started a couple months ago as a hobby/thing to do with her dad to take over. She enjoyed the training, got something out of it, and may be back if she remembers by the end of swim season. That's more than enough for me

I edited my OP and added to tickler file ideas.

I was waiting for a call from a potential employer and apparently my old boss went to see the new boss and told him she didn't think I was up to the job. I'm pretty pissed off about it. I might hit my makiwara, just for effect.

This your old boss who was encouraging you to try to find something better?

Yup. Deeply pissed off
The new employer told you that? Sounds to me like he didn't actually want you to leave, and makes me wonder if he's sabotaged other opportunities to keep you around.

Probably not the smartest move (or maybe it is) but I'd leave the current job just out of spite, and figure something else out later

I didn't know these things.

I didn't know these things.

Makes sense. I like that the video was short and concise. As for the content, I have no idea. Everything I know about controlling bleeding was learned 40 years ago in the cub scouts and a couple weeks ago from watching The Pitt.

Achievment unlocked: curl 20kg dumbbell with one hand
Congrats, I tend to stick to lower weight these days. My joints aren't as good as they used to be. The most I really curl is 35 lbs, and I try to do them slow and concentrated. Usually I get the blood pumping with less weight. Back in my late 20's/early 30's I would do 40-45 lbs.
