My friend didn't get started until his 40s either. He really loves it. Here in Germany you do need a license but once you're set there are little airports to land and take off from all over the place, pretty neat.
At this point, it's mostly a matter of time cost. In my 20's, I had fewer commitments, and might have fit in the lessons. These days, I find myself rarely with any significant time to spare, unless I hit a dry spell between clients (and then, there's not enough money to spare).

It's ninety degrees inside the house right now, off to the dojo where it will be cooler (higher elevation).
My wife has spider bites on her head. (per the Doc)

Life in the tropics ain't all milk and cookies. Sometimes it's warm water and crackers.
