I made some changes regarding the webcomic.
First of all, we released a small print run of issue #1 (75 copies). I distributed these to 3 comic book stores (25 copies each) on Friday, May 5th, to be given out on Free Comic Book Day, which was May 6th. I have not had a chance to call those shops yet and ask how it went.
Second, we were originally going to post the comic every Tuesday on a website called Tapastic. However, we realized there were big drawbacks to this. (1) There is no way to view how many hits the comic got. (2) Space to contribute other things, like links to social media and so on, was limited. Therefore we decided to create a WordPress page. This gives us WAY more options.
Now here's the thing: the 75 issues of the comic were printed with a page that tells people how to continue following the comic book. Well, guess what link was incorporated into the artwork? Right...the now-defunct Tapastic page! Unfortunately, printing was done BEFORE I created the WordPress link. So what was I to do?
I'll tell you what I did: I sat outside all 3 shops and wrote the WordPress link on the inside of the back cover by hand. Yes, on the back of 75 copies. However, after I wrote it out the first time, I stared at it and thought, "Man, that looks bland." So I wrote something else...a personalized message that only the person who picked up that particular copy would get. These were not profound or philosophical things; they were more like silly statements. I cannot possibly remember all 75, but some of them were:
*Where are you reading this right now? Follow us on this link and tell me!
*Is it cold in here, or is it just me?
*Never trust a man who has a machete in one hand, while picking his nose with the other. For more of these tidbits of wisdom, follow us at...
I think that last one was my favorite.
