Having dumped my entire fridge and freezer yesterday (I have another fridge in the basement, for extra storage), and left it open all day so it would defrost completely; then I spent the morning cleaning my supposedly frost-free fridge; the drain pipe from the freezer was backed up, there was ice all over the floor of the freezer under the base of the freezer (removable piece to hide the pipe and drainage) and the overflow was dripping into the fridge, but I couldn't find anything in the pipe, and I stuck a 1/4" rope down it (the opening wouldn't allow a stiffer item, because the back of the freezer overhangs it) and it went all the way down; I tied a knot in it so it was the size of the pipe and pulled it back up and nothing was stuck to it but a little gook...
I'm hoping it just had an ice plug in it, because if it didn't, I may just have to put up with defrosting it every few months and keeping a container in the fridge for the overflow, because there's nothing else wrong with it and I'm not in a position to buy another fridge right now - I mean, I could if I had to, but there are other things I need the money for more.
