Oh, none of that. I'm almost embarrassed to say his roots are in the Shiho Karano Kai. Luckily he left them years ago.

Gotcha, just wondered, cause at least one of those preaches the same, "you don't need it" ... it's all BS. Yes, I would rather keep things on my feet, but if I get tackled, trip or slip ... well, I want to know how to handle that ... and I left my last instructor because of the same reasoning. As a note, I left and four other black belts followed. He now tries to teach some ground work.
