Kacey, not only do I read everything for both of my kids. I also file it and have it accessible easily. (I know I am really weird in this manner

That's not weird... that's good parenting. If there were more parents like you, there would be fewer kids who have problems in school... like truancy, poor work habits, poor social skills, lack of respect, etc. Your kids may be getting good teachers - the teachers are also getting good kids, which helps any teacher do well.

What I'm saying, I guess, is thank you, Kacey and all you other folk out there who teach our kids and keep them safe.

Thank you for your kind words. Drac, I think this is for you too.

Most definitely, yes! :)

Yes, a big thank you from me to all the teacher's, police and related public servants for everything that they do!

Hey Exile...This your first visit to the Last Person thread???

No, I've been here before, but haven't lingered much before tonight---just stopped by for a little while and haven't felt much like leaving the place for the past couple of hours. Very cozy here!

Yeah, I look at this as the 'unofficial chat room' of MT. :) And we're doing what the title states:

The Urusai Bar & Grill Stop in, pull up a stool and say hello. This is the place to kick back, relax, catch up on whats new with everyone, and just chat.

Public appreciation is something that both teachers and LEOs get way less of than they should, and it's been that way ever since I can remember (and that goes back a long way). For what it's worth, I think you folks really are appreciated by a lot of people who never actually voice it. Small comfort, I know, but it's there at some level.

If you want some tangible indication, look at those various polls that newspapers and research outfits periodically conduct about `most trusted'/`least trusted' professions. Teachers and police officers typically top the list, and lawyers and politicians fill the basement. I think those polls really do reflect public views... too bad the compensation you guys get aren't really commensurate with those very positive views.

A waste??!!! Best place for comraderie and a good chat on the internet! You're dead right---they really do not know squat. Why should it always have to be either the crises of Western civilization or the proper execution of a front-leg roundhouse kick??

There was a short lived thread called "The Depressing Nature of the Last Person Thread"..Do a search and look it up, interesting reading and I don't believe it's closed so you can add a comment if you desire...

Exile are you a big Buckeye's fan? If you are I will not hold it against you!

They look destined to win a national championship this year.

Hey Brian, I have to say that in most years I don't really pay much attention to what's happening, but this year... there's so much desperate emotional baggage those guys on the field are carrying (this town really does live and breath OSU football, it's scary) that I'll feel quite sad if they blow it against Michigan... no kick against Michigan, btw---I love Ann Arbor (even the name is sweet) and UofM is a great school... what team do you support?
