Question on defense against grappling in street fight

American military are very far behind times just like everything else in government. Just saying.
I don’t know about that, the MCMAP program is pretty damn good for a government/military entity.

And that’s pretty much all I can say is good in today’s government. But, hey, one in a thousand is a whole lot better than none in a thousand.

One of my neighboring police departments has a legitimately funny Facebook page, does that count for anything?

Any changes in existing government things have to go through a lot of red tape. My wife worked for Feds for 25yrs, it's very hard to change policies. Once it changed, takes a lot to justify to even modify a little.

I have personal experience. I worked for a defense contractor. We had a problem of a simple cable with only a few wires in it. the original design was sloppy, signals in the few wires interfered with each others. I modified the design without changing any signal, everything works the same and fixed the problem. All they have to do is unplug the old cable and plug in my new one and the problem is fixed. It's a NO BRAINER.......

WRONG

I got called into the office and told to put back the old cable. That I had to do whatever it takes to fix the old cable even though it might cost 10 times more and not completely fix the problem!!! The reason is if I change out the original cable, I had to go through the justification process, re-run all the tests by certified people, do the complete writeup and wait for the approval before I can change the cable.

That's the reason you hear about amphibious tank don't float, planes don't fly and all that. It is particularly bad for military industry. We were small company that invented the things we produced. But the whole industry is controlled by a few big companies like Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics etc. We had to finally sold the company to one of those big insider company or else, we would never get the contract even we demonstrated our product works.

You want to change their exercise? GOOD LUCK.

Oh, I feel for you buddy, I’ve been there.

As for Lockheed Martin, banged heads with a lackey of Lockheed Martin back in the days after 9/11, who called me out of the blue and said they were going to issue an arrest order on me for not returning a uniform I never had in my possession.

I was on my way back to the mainland at the time to go back into Federal Law Enforcement. I made that poor man a hobby of mine for the next six months. I almost felt sorry for him. Almost. 😊

A nice little video showing how grappling positions give striking oportunity.

Alas, I don’t have f book.

This is my only social media. I had Facebook but just stopped using it. TBH I don’t have time for multiples.
You can tailor what you see on FB. I don't even use it to connect with friends. I pick the media I want to see by closing all the ones I don't want. I use it for news. In my page, I only get NewsNation, CBS, ABC news, no fake news. It's like breaking news 24/7. I like to debate on those news.

I also playing puzzles like finding 3 difference between 2 almost identical pictures to kind of exercise my eyes.

They have MA, Weapon groups, I am not active on those, but might be interesting for you. Here is very slow.

I think looking at modern MMA is a bit of a red herring because everyone has grappling. So grappling doesn't work as well.

Let's time travel back to when people had any grappling just demolished people with no grappling.

(OK Dan Severn was a good grappler. But still.)

yep!

I think in the early 90s when UFC first started, the striking MA never prepared for grappling, they never imagine that. But slowly, they learn. But at the same time, MMA competition set rules that extreme favoring for grapplers. So they always look effective. If there is no rules on no eyes gouging and allow to hit at the back of the head and neck, it will take a lot of advantages out of grappling.

Just imagine if the striker can resist being take down for 1 sec, the grappler's back of the head and neck, also his eyes will be exposed for you to gouge, hit on the back of the head and neck with hammer fist.

Just imagine if in the middle of a rear naked choke they are also tearing your eyes out.

Did you even see the tape talking about eyes gouging is effective on grappler much more than strikers? If you get into rear naked choke, you won already. The point is at the first second before you take down the striker.

This discussion make me think about judo I learn how to resist take downs, I think that will work for a second. That's all it takes.

Again, you have a very short memory or just too painful to see. Watch this video again, it explain why it's effective against grappler.

I actually watch your video you posted and practice.

To me, the key of striking is punch high so your hands are up, then the 2nd and 3 punch go to the stomach to drop your hands. Then I practice pulling both hands back high as if to protect my face and body dip down and step back.

The point is I put my hands between my upper body and the grappler to make it harder to try to grape me high like in the video. Then dip body and step back and see whether the grappler can hold onto my body weight.

This is NOT like technique specific for grappler like most of the school teaching. This is how boxer should do in real fighting.

1) PUNCHING HIGH AND LOW TO THROW OPPONENT OFF THE GAME.

2) IMMEDIATE PULL BOTH HANDS BACK TO PROTECT FACE AND UPPER BODY( this serve to put hands and arms in between the opponent and me to make it hard to be grapped).

3) Further dip body down and step sideway or back to slip out of the grappler. These are just simple boxing technique, but should be effective against grappling. USE BODY WEIGHT AND PUT HANDS BETWEEN ME AND THE GRAPPLER.

These are not like those STUPID technique usually taught that if people do this, you step left(or right), then use hands to push this and that those complicated movement. My technique is NATURAL RESPONSE, USING BODY WEIGHT, HABIT OF HOLDING BOTH HANDS UP TO PROTECT THE HEAD AFTER PUNCHING AND WHEN WALKING AROUND. NATURAL.

Also, when I dip down, my legs squat down a little like a horse stand while stepping back to put the center of gravity low to make it harder to take down.

So why can't a grappler stick his finger in your eye mid collar tie?

You can both stick fingers in eyes.

So there is no advantage.

(Side note this is how I used to hit my standing grape choke. Which structurally makes it really hard to shake me off)

And then the other side of that is you can be hit hard enough with a fist to stop grappling. And that is allowed.
