This afternoon was a day I knew was coming... but wasn't looking forward to at all. We rescued a pit bull named Buster about 12 years ago, and he's been a good dog. He was about 4 when we rescued him, and he was as gentle as you could want to our then-4 year old. Loved to fetch a ball, and go for hikes. But -- he was 16, ancient for a big dog. The last few months, he's been going downhill, and today was finally the day to say good bye.
I'm so very sorry for your loss that's hard.. but yes you did such a service to him and enriched his life for sure đź’—

So sorry, my friend.
Last summer I lost my 15+ year old cat. She showed up one day and demanded entry, and never left.

The great ones leave a big hole.
Great eulogy to a great friend. |Here's to Buster!

(sadly, we know the day will come when we first take them into our hearts. Unfortunately, the only way to avoid that is by getting a turtle or an elephant.)

Perhaps this cartoon will relieve some of your grief

My heart to you, my brother. It’s so damn hard.

It seems like I got a seven week old puppy just the other day, and now she’s over four years old. It goes by so quickly.

Buster had a good family, you gave him a good life and a house he could call his home. 🙏

I am surprised at how disappointing the breakfast at this hotel in Taipei is, at least to me. I didn’t fly 16 hours to Taiwan to eat American food…. Same hotel chain in Beijing breakfast was awesome, had jianbing and different types of baozi there every morning

Which hotel chain ? I ask because I often travel here in China often to Beijing and interesting to know about the hospitality business.
I usually stay at Kempinski

I have walked around Beijing and I have now walked around Taipei and to me, it is much easier to get around Taipei. If for no other reason there are not 15,000 unregistered, unlicensed, electric scooters driving all over the place. Taipei has them, but all are registered and, unlike Beijing, they are wearing helmets. Also rush hour traffic is much MUCH lighter. due in part to the lack of insane scooter drivers. Although I did see a few crazy stunts pulled on the in Taipei. Also seems to be a greater reliance on public transportation

Mrs Wu was saying, when we retire she wanted to spend a month or 2 in Beijing. Now I like Beijing….. for a couple weeks , but that’s it. I think I could do the month or two in Taipei

I should add, “when WE retire” is when she retires, and by that time, if I’m still around, I’ll probably be 80 years old. But to be honest, if I live to 100, I doubt she will ever fully retire. As for me, I fully plan on being retired no later than mid 2027
