Recently I was browsing the Barnes and Noble Martial Arts book collection and they ahve several Ninja books by a man named

HAHA LUNG.

Anybody know who this guy is or whats up with his books?

That is a strange sounding name, though...perhaps he's a pulmonary specialist that also does standup comedy? ;)

They are of the same caliber as Ashida Kim's books, i.e. they are rubbish. For every interesting or informative piece of information you might find, there are pages of inaccuracies.

I recommend against getting any Haha Lung books, and don't recommend even reading them except for the purposes of humor.

I have read one of Haha Lung's books and it is VERY similar to Ashida Kim's style of writing and the techniques/topics covered.

Like Shizen said, read it for fun and not for any serious information

In total agreement, I have had the unfortunate chance to read one. A few hours I will never get back in my life.

This guy, IMO is more out to lunch than Kim himself.

 A long time ago I came across Paladin Press, they really have some great titles some are amusement others could get you into big trouble. Irrelevent. What brought me here was the Ashida Kim thing. First, a ninja book written by a gent. Chris Hunter, complete with photos. Copywrite 1979. Next, a book by noneother than Ashida Kim, interesting featuring photos, with the same guy in the Hunter book. I would purchase Kim's books and read them with a grain of salt, just in case the sucker might be real. However, you never see Kim or a photo of what he is supposed to be. Beleive it or not some(small) amount of his stuff in the books is real, some is out and out bull! I wondered about Kim, then his last book I ever saw, or he published under Ashida Kim. Inside Ashida Kim's Training Camp. Oh ***** fairy tale world! What was the age of his readers; 12. This crap was as deep as General Hospital 20 plus yrs. ago. The reason for my inquiry is did he ever have a dojo or facility-legit. What is he doing today or selling now. I saw the posts on HaHa Lung; translated: ha ha so lung I have your money.

I've read two of his books. Not bad, not the best. I would totally put them on the Ashida level. Still a little bit better. Why? Because Lung sites his work from others. In a way he is just copying bit 'n pieces from others. It is not really him speaking about ninjutsu but others, and half of it isn't really about ninjutsu but things similar to ninjutsu. Like he has stuff sited from Chinese stratagists, CIA stuff, etc.
I'd if you can think of it just as a learning tool in whatever the book is title and try to forget the ninja words in the book then it is worth the read. But I've read a quarter of the Mind Manipulation book and it is slightly annoying when he uses Chinese words instead of Japanese, misspells/misuses Japanese terms, compares Chinese assassins to ninja, etc. Heck, those are the same reasons the Ashida books annoy me. But I love the anyway. :D
