"classic" martial art vs "modern" martial arts

Basically yes.

When you are developing your own game within a system. You basically do that.

So its wonderful that there are all these techniques done by all these great guys.

But at some point I have to do that technique. And at that point it doesn't matter how good the reputation of that technique is. I still have to do it.

If I can't do it in a roll. Then I can't use that technique.
I agree, because the individual has to make it work for themselves. It’s not enough to just see it or understand it.

Who are the we that pressure test? What are the measurements for successful pressure testing? How large will our study be? How varied the demographic? Will their be weight and or age classes? Will the pressure test be for street or a rule set? Will drugs or doping be allowed? How will we have vetted them that critique a method they have not trained in? Diabolic advocation is a just a hobby of mine but I’m really very interested in the substance of these discussions from other peoples perspectives. I mean no offense, nor do I intend to argue.
You are comparing a flawed system with no system though.

You're dodging questions like Neo.

Fine. I fight everyone at my gym and see what works.

Bare minimum incredibly flawed pressure testing with a tiny sample.
These guys specifically.

What is your method?

It all makes sense now.

Happy Valentine’s Day from our family to yours ā¤ļø
While most are celebrating, the boys are putting in the work to make sure they’re performing at their best come fight night.

Big and busy schedule ahead — we’ve got fighters stepping into the cage in Yeppoon in just a couple of weeks, then backing it up for the best night of the year at AFN šŸ„ŠšŸ”„

The work never stops.
Don’t forget to grab your tickets online — you don’t want to miss this one.

Combat sports. You do combat sports. Bloodsport. Pugilism.

I'm talking to a cage fighter.

It all makes sense now.

Well yeah.

The exact opposite of this.

It still puzzles me why people question kata pressure testing... Like, they wouldn't be in the school's syllabus if they weren't found to be useful... under pressure... after being tested...

I think about 13 of those guys actively compete.

In mugging or fighting competition? šŸ˜‰

Where you start is not necessarily where you end up. I remember we had a visit in a dojo from a guy who started off doing kids' karate classes and ended up doing MMA. I think you have to start off where you are, with what you have.
