What is EDC folding knives for?

It's very easy. Not expensive to buy all the stones. I even have a belt sander to reform the edges. I am sure they have plenty of youtube stuffs on this.

But….I like an expensive stone

My edc is a Benchmade griptilian. It’s a tool. I don’t think of it as a defense item. I could use a pencil or a fork if I need to.

Here is my Chris Reeves “ pacific” and my microtech ultratech. The pacific is my do all camping/utility knife, the microtech is, well for me it’s a cherished toy and not much else because I can’t carry an OTF auto knife in California even though I have a concealed firearms permit, which just burns my bippy.

This is my only true weapon knife. This has no other real use. It’s carried horizontally on the back of my belt. In the event that something needs a hole in it, this will definitely suffice.

Here is my griptilian, it’s worn, dirty, slightly dull. A real workhorse, I lost my first one after 5-6 years. This one has been my edc tool for about 7 years or so. I use this for almost everything.

They are made in Beaverton Oregon, guaranteed for life, inspection cleaning and laser sharpening for about $6.00 plus shipping. Very high quality in general and many models are fully customizable online. I rate them highly in general. Benchmade has several grades up to and including collectible level handmade pieces. Tariffs? What tariffs? Simply wire the money to a friend and have them ship it to you…

That blade is handmade by a well known knife maker in Idaho. It was designed for exposure to saltwater conditions thus, “ pacific”. I live a mile from the ocean in a temperate rainforest area… That is my favorite knife for lots of reasons. It is perfectly balanced and has a very positive grip that fits the hand very nicely. It is lively in the hand but fairly large so you can baton with it, it has a double choil which makes it useful for small or fine work as well. It has micarta handles and a small section of serrated blade I have found useful before. I like the gun bluing look and LOVE that sheath. This knife was $450.00 with the sheath. Not cheap, but it is heirloom quality.

But there's nothing prevent the knife from shoving into your hand if you thrust forward particularly if you hit bones by accident. If you read my first two posts, not only I think it's important to have the protection, I actually have a blunt knife and practice on the heavy bag, making sure I hold it tight when I thrust into the bag.

They're at the high end of the scale. Always have been. They are worth it. Materials, craftsmanship, warranty, customization, all top notch.

I practice on my heavy bag with a blunt knife with rubber boot at the tip. Practice every week once. I chop and I thrust, that's the one that is important. Do NOT say thrusting is not important, there are situation call for that when you don't have the space to swing the knife or in very close up.

This is exactly like we debated on eyes gauging and biting. You meet up with a grappler, you fight in very close quarter, you cannot swing and all like punching for distance. You BETTER prepare to thrust and play dirty.

Insulting me or CMA in general doesn’t bolster your credibility, it just puts your insecurities on display. I feel sorry that you live in such fear each day that it guides your decisions. Maybe get a dog, it seems like you could use a friend.
