No, there certainly isn't. When you have a job like mine however, you'd better get use to it, cause it's pretty much what you're paid to do, hour-after-hour, day-after-day, etc.

Yes, there most definately is. My last job was technical, I actually built and fixed servers. I did not sit on calls all day long, day-after-day.

Well, what I said was only half true for me. I am currently in a technical job that presents enough of a diverse mix of tasks that I'm only bored half the time.

Oh my God. I was a circuit designer AND a Project Manager at the same time a few years back. The project management aspect took all of the fun out of being an engineer. So much so that I resigned from that position.
