Tell me something good...

I was driving to a field where I walk my dog every morning. We were on the Kula Highway. Myself, a car in front of me and one behind me were all going twenty miles an hour.

A pickup truck passed all three of us, even with a double yellow line indicating a no passing zone.

Even with all the lights flashing because it’s a School Zone and the Elementary School is starting in fifteen minutes.

A Police Car came out of nowhere and stopped the pickup truck. Me and the dog continued to the field for our walk.

Forty minutes later we were driving back. The pickup truck was being loaded onto a flatbed. The driver was sitting on the curb, handcuffed, his head down.

God, I so love happy endings.
About 30 years ago when I lived in LA I was walking to work on a wet morning at 0600. There were almost no cars out yet, I was walking past a big puddle when a red Toyota pick up tried to veer into the puddle to splash me. I was able to avoid most of it but he got my leg. As the Toyota driver drove away he was looking back at me laughing through the little slider window, and BAM! Rammed right into the rear end of a new, lowered, tinted, el dorado that was painted metal flake red with gold wire spoked wheels and white wall tires. I could hardly believe it! I hurried forward to see the results when an enormous man in a full length fur coat emerged from the Caddy and subsequently removed the stunned driver of the Toyota from his seat and began silently beating the brakes off him. I passed by trying not to look in their direction and had a fantastic day at work in my wet legged scrubs. Best instant karma I have ever witnessed.

I've been a bit worried about my possible vocation in the church and... you know, the whole 'sleeping with other men' thing... and apparently we already have two gay bishops here in Wales. We're pretty rock and roll in the church in Wales.

Got some great news today.
Having taught for over forty years, there’s several generations of long-time students. Most of the younger ones have heard about the more experienced ones, have seen their photos ect.

Some of the older ones are still around and hear about the younger ones or train them now.

What started out as a sad day (death of an old student, the wife of another long-time black belt in hospice) started to brighten up.

I connected everybody that was trying to reach someone and didn’t know how. I ended up chatting on the phone with, or texting back and forth with, a whole gang of people. Spent about five hours doing so.

Then one of my long time black belts told me about his black belt student, someone he’s been teaching since he was eight years old, getting accepted to college.

And getting a three hundred thousand dollar scholarship, a total free ride.

But it got even better. When my buddy told me about his acceptance, scholarship and where it was to, I told him “I know someone there. And so do you.”

The college he’s going to has a professor, Doctor P.J, who’s one of my old black belts and who I used to teach with at the Police Academy. We contacted him to let him know about the kid coming.

He’ll take him under wing, and knowing P.J, work the kid into the ground.

I got all misty eyed this morning. A couple of times.
