I don't even know what to make of this. I'm not even sure what the OP was talking about, is this a thread about what shuriken are, or a question about the types?

For the record, as I understand it shuriken were used as throwing weapons to human targets, but not to kill, just wound, distract or slow down.
Or was that said already? I can't even tell... :p

Sanke on the move.

Shuriken didn't work like most familiar with Sho Kashugi's films would think. Hold it in your hand, use it like a palm dagger or claw for in close fighting. Throw it away to make a noise off in the distance to distract guards and mislead them, or at them to force them to pause, since they were often rusty and tetanus was usually lethal in those days.

Billy, shuriken are far from being just a "ninja" weapon, and are not considered to be "deadly" in most usage, especially when thrown. But, for the record, there are a range of non-ninjutsu systems that have forms of shuriken which are thrown (with multiple spikes) as well.

Oh, and steer clear of Cummins, the guy has no idea what he's talking about. The whole Ichigum Ichimi idea is flawed from the outset, and only designed to attract those who need legitimacy as they don't actually have any in the system they're doing. Antony is not a good source for information at all, and should be ignored.

billy,

You list your rank as this:
first degree balt black shodan

First of all, what's a "balt"? Did you mean "belt"?

Why would a ninja use any rank at all, considering that at the time Kano developed the belt system, Ninja's were pretty much extinct, and historically never used it?

Who awarded you that rank?

Do you have a photo or scan of the actual certificate that shows you earned the rank?

Who taught you?

Did you learn from an actual person, in person?

Or, did you learn from video and books?

These are very simple questions, none of which should be a problem when they have over 20 years experience like you claim.
