punch mitts

So i picked up some everlast punch mitts on sale at walmart. Ive done some work with them boxing but i was curious if anyone here has ever used them for kicking. I plan to try to work on combinations with them but have no idea how well theyll work. I was thinking maybe jab, straight round house, or front snap with a knee, idk. Just curious i anyone had any experience or ideas.

I've done this a few times. The main thing for the holder is to keep you body kind of square to the kicker. If you get sideways and the kicker throws a strong kick, it can be rough on your shoulders. A better bet is to use Thai kicking pads (the ones that cover hand to elbow). You can work punches and you can brace yourself better for kicks.

itll be light kicks mostly, concerned more with accuracy and technique right now more than power, and id love some thai pads, little outta the budget at the moment.
