Where did this quote originate?

It sounds like a paraphrase of the Samuel Clemens quote "it is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

I did not consciously paraphrase Clemens the first time I posted that line, but it's entirely possible that my subconscious did.
 
Reminds me of "Soke" Calkins who wore a white belt with gold trim as "a very visible sign of my own humbleness"
