The Last Person.....

Y'know, it's only 10:23 pm here in Denver... not really that late.

I'm staring at my clock telling me that it's just about half an hour past midnight, and I'm afraid it's gonna be another one of those 2a.m. morning and then lying awake for an hour chewing over totally pointless stuff, and then waking up at six-thirty a.m. again...

I hate nights like those..:(

And they happen so often, it seems---not just with me, but many people I know... does anyone get a good night's sleep anymore?

I go weeks on four or five hours and then my body just falls apart and I sleep well for a few nights. It is weird

Every once in a while I do... but then I feel sleepy all day, because it's so unusual my body doesn't know how to react.

I do the same thing---weeks on end---and then I get sick. It's the body's way of forcing you to stop driving it too hard, I suppose. The thing is, I'd get to sleep and stay there if I could, but no matter how beat I am, by the time it gets really late, I get this second wind, even though I don't want it.

I had something like that happen last week---actually fell asleep at 11pm and slept through till about 6:30, never woke up once. It was so strange. Instead of feeling energetic, I was dragging around all day... why do we all have such trouble with our sleep lives? HandSword has this awful night shift, but why do so many people who have normal working hours have such trouble with such a basic part of their lives?

That, and to harken back to last night's conversation, nothing to eat, but junk, because everything's closed.

Bloody hell... do you have to do this every night, or is this just temporary? I've been reading a lot of stuff lately that says that it's a very bad idea to do night shift work for too long at a stretch---leads to bad hormonal screwups because of the exposure to light when you should be asleep in darkness...

Too much to do, not enough time to do it... it's easy to cut a few minutes here and there off the time you go to bed, and then it feels normal - to the extent that a full night's sleep feels abnormal. And on that note, I'm going to log out and go to bed. Night, all!

That's why I took the 3rd shift, many years ago. I was "up" anyway, might as well get paid for it.

Uh oh! It's been over a decade, and no end in sight. What else did you hear?
