As the decendent of a long line of Southerners, I'm inclinced to tell you: you might wanna know that the original southern colonies consider themselves to be The South ... to exclude Texas and Oklahomah.

Texans aren't southerners ... they're Texans. No offense intended to my Texan boardmates. :)

Nope. That is true. That's the southwest and it's different than "The South".

its just a sub-category...

Not to people who live in "The South". I take that back. That statement isn't even true because many people who live in "The South" are not considered Southerners. They take their heritage very seriously. We are going beyond geographical location here, HOWEVER, geographical birth place has everything to do with being a "Southerner". And if you're born in Texas, or Oklahoma, or any state other than the original southern colonies, you will never be considered a Southerner to those born in one of the original southern colonies. You could move to one of those states at age 2 days and live your entire life there and STILL be considered a "Yankee". You could be born in California, Texas, or Kansas...anywhere other than one of the original Southern states and you will be a Yankee to a Southerner. Trust me on this one.

Signed,
A Midwestern "Yankee" who lived in "The South" for 10 years.

In some parts of the "Old" South, they still see themselves as living in a conquered nation, and the resentment is still quite there, even after 140 years. Quite understandable, when you research it in depth.

Watch Gettysburg. Good movie.

um, er, ah, iee........

YES! :D

But NY is a catch and release state.....according to me girlfriend,, who has placed me on a 1-wench limit, and reminds me that she meets my quota. As she has a blackbelt, and teeth, I tend to not argue that point much....
in person.

:D
