Not too much today. But now I'm hungry ... LOL ... I'm off today, just have one of those long workout days planned. A one hour group class, followed by a two hour private session.

Wednesday is a 'take' day ... sometimes it's even longer, if I can handle it. My instructor gets on a roll. One of the reasons that I chose wednesday is that there is a three hour window where I am the student. If I'm able to last, he'll keep working.

I take both kung fu and kempo ... depending on the day, one, the other, or both in private. I prefer kempo, the kung fu kicks my butt ... LOL ... The forms that I'm learning are kung fu. Just finished Hung Gar's Tiger/Crane set ... that, in itself, will take a long time, if not a lifetime to master.

I like the Southern systems like Wing Chun (the only one I've studied), Hung Gar, Southern Mantis...probably because they remind me so heavily of the Okinawan Karate I started in the martial arts with long long ago.

What's preferable about Kempo?

For me, it's the short, speedy yet powerful bursts of kempo. Here's how I look at it: kung fu is long-hand; kempo is short-hand. Learning long-hand takes longer to be proficient, but once you learn it you can do the short-hand. I was the opposite, I learned short-hand, now I'm trying to learn long-hand ... hope that is understandable ... LOL
