LONDON - Batman star Christian Bale was arrested Tuesday over allegations of assault, British media had reported that Bale's mother and sister complained they were assaulted by the 34-year-old actor at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Sunday night, a day before the European premiere of his latest film, "The Dark Knight."
The women made the allegation at a local police station in southern England on Monday, Britain's Press Association news agency said. It later said Bale had been arrested, citing "police sources."
This line is what prompted me to post the article
The Sun newspaper said police didn't question the actor Monday because they didn't want to interfere with the premiere of the movie.
Oh so now celebs are exempt from questioning just because it would interfere with a premier of their latest box office smash??
If the man committed a crime then he shouldn't be put off until something big is over and done with.
The law is still the law isn't it? Assault is a serious crime isn't it? Would any of us (non-celebs) be granted a few hours/days respite because we got something else going on?

Unfortunately, this isn't the 1st time nor will it be the last time that exemptions are made for celebs.

Heard something about this this morning.

Apparently Bale was not arrested but surrendered to police. The incident does not appear, at the moment, to involve any physical violence and may be a case of verbal assault (a punishable offence in the UK and down here in Oz).

The intereting thing is that no one is saying anything about it, not even the mother who made the accusation in the first place.

A tempest in a tea cup? Probably.
