Question on defense against grappling in street fight

Anyway.

If you want to use prison rules to defend grappling. You probably still should learn grappling so that your prison rules are not interfering with the basic mechanics of your grappling defence.

So lets look at the defence against a double leg that for simplicity's sake.

You should be doing.

.

Now the structure he is using is defeating the mechanism of the take down. Preventing the bad guys head going forward and him pulling his legs towards you.

You are putting strong structures in place to prevent that.

If you start throwing downward elbows. You are removing those strong structures and hoping your strikes beat him before he beats you.

Instead. You need to find a way that your prison rules work with those structures.

That cross face for example. You probably could wedge a thumb in their eye. And not expose yourself as much.

But by the time you figure out how to do that defence properly with an eyegouge

You will have learned the defence anyway.

But don't you agree MMA competitions favor grabbing? If both sides can do all that, they will think twice before trying to tackle? Forget eyes gauging, just allow to hit the back of the head and the back of the neck, that will take away a lot of advantage of grappling already.

TKD practice reach hand that can literally like deep hook punch. It can be used when the opponent is literally hugging you trying to take you down. It can hit quite hard to the back of the head and the neck using the bone of the wrist. You know reach hand. It's literally the opposite of knife hand that chop down. I practice on the heavy bag. I literally hug the bag, then use reach hand to swing to the back of the bag.

MMA competition is very unfair favoring grappler. Just let people hit the back of the head and neck, it will be very different outcome.

In MMA, grapplers integrate strikes to control the space, get you out of position with your hands up (e.g., your eye gouge), get their head outside the centerline, level change and take you down.

Yup, this is why in BJJ or wrestling matches, nobody ever initiates the grapple and all competitors just run away screaming like scared little kids.

Wait...they don't do that?

Why not have swords?

Have a look at that Dan Severn fight.

The guy hit him in the neck about 8 times.

At least it's limited to bare hand!!! We are talking about bare hand competition. The rules really favor grapplers. Like I said, just make it legal to hit the back of the head and neck, the fights would be very different.

That was really early in MMA, people don't practice hitting back of the head and neck. BUT now, if they can, they can practice like what I am doing, hugging the heavy bag and use reach hand to hit on the other side of the bag. It's all about strategy, It's a different strike that needs to be practiced.

Because it's BJJ and wrestling matches, NOT MMA. They don't have advantage initiate grapple. We are talking about MMA.

Answer me, does the no hitting the back of the head and neck, no eyes gauging favor grapplers? Simple question.

Dan Severn is also not likely to be attacking me in public. Thank god.
Why is it that hard to answer whether the MMA no eyes gauging and hitting the back of the head and neck favor grapplers?

If you are punching and kicking, you don't have your head stick into the opponent, ONLY GRAPPLERS DO THAT. eyes gauging and hitting the back of the head and neck is the best way to deal with a grappler when they try to tackle you.

No. Because you can grapple someone and do those things

I guess I shouldn't be surprised people getting very defensive here because I pointed the weak point of grabbling in the real world. Now I know I am right. All these "Grappler can eye gauge and hit the back of the head also" just to show how defensive grappling people are.

Marvin8 posted this video that explain it all:

ONLY GRABBLERS STICK THEIR HEAD INTO YOUR WAIST, CHEST OR HEAD FOR EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME TRYING TO TAKE YOU DOWN that make eyes gauging, hitting on the back of your head or neck effective. For strikers, you can break your fingers trying to pork the eye.

Watch the video, that explain everything I want to say.

Please note that I am not saying just gauging eye is good enough, OF CAUSE I PRACTICE FOOT WORK TO STEP ASIDE AND BACK TO POSITION TO TRAP THE HEAD TO GAUGE THE EYES. This is not a beginner's question. IT IS GIVEN THERE WILL BE FOOTWORKS AND ALL THIS COMBINE WITH EYES GAUGING.

OK eyes gauging is too extreme for MMA competition. Just let people hitting the back of the head or neck, elbowing the back or the head of neck, I bet the dynamics of the competition will change quite a bit. People will think twice to charge and tackle people particularly pushing the opponent against the fence and take the time to pull the legs to get the opponent onto the ground.

I think I got the answer loud and clear. You can close the thread.

You forgot about biting, scratching, hair pulling, ripping off ears, grabbing / crushing the throat and ripping out the heart and showing it to your opponent before he/she dies.
And stuff like that.
And taunting them a second time, too.

Well you wouldn't want to get caught in back control if the guy could start poking you in the eye.

Some potentially useful ideas. At 2:48, ā€œThe shredder is not a tool that can be used outside of the CQ range.ā€ At 5:43, ā€œThe shredder comes in at CQ range/clinchā€¦ā€
