Proudest moments

my proudest moments...

- when I took gold in both sparring and forms in my very first tournament ever, with my hands wrapped up like kickboxer. (I had all the skin burned off of them in an accident a few days before so I could not do hand techniques at all in sparring)

- when I beat brandonlucas like a redheaded stepchild at my yellow belt test (he was black belt) j/k

Well BrandonLucas are you just going to seat here and take that?

I think that my proudest moment would have been skipping a belt when I was a yellow belt.

Why... well, because it saved me a testing fee and I guess it was a rare instance where I was the center of attention for a good reason.

There are a few moments in my Taekwon-Do "career" that really stand out even though I have memorable moments all the time.

Receiving my Master Instructor's old IV dan black belt after passing my IV dan test.

Talking to my Master Instructor one night after class when I had traveled up to Michigan to train with him while getting ready for V dan and having him tell me, among other things, that I was like one of his own kids.

Demonstrating about 90% of the material that was covered in a seminar given by now-Master Parm Rai, Special Assistant to Grand Master Choi, Jung Hwa, at a seminar hosted by my Master Instructor. He suggested that I try out for the U.S. team after demonstrating a pattern for him, even though I'm officially an old foggey. Near the end of the seminar he had me perform Ge-Baek along with him as a little "contest" and then declared me the "winner." It was a great compliment (even if it was far from the truth!).

There are many more memorable events form the last 22 years, but those ones stick out in my mind. It really has been a great time and I have been really blessed to meet many great people, one close enough that I consider him a martial art brother. The martial way is an individual endeavor, no one can make the trip for you, but you can certainly meet a lot of outstanding fellow travellers along the way.

Pax,

Chris
