What are your opinions on learning KKW Poomsae earlier than you need to?

Poomsae competition encourages this, but does it detract from the experience of progression and learning through the dan grades?

The former ITA used to have 2 forms per rank and then some...

Every new form increases the understanding of the mechanics a little more.

And the way a lot of guys spend years in one rank....why not?

(However, the ITA was also testing every 2 month, so perfecting 2 forms must have been difficult. Heck it was difficult to do one right, and perfect it during the next cycle)

It's like doing crossword puzzles....

We discourage it. Each level of training builds on what has already been learned. If you haven't mastered A, then you're not likely to learn B or C correctly, and learning B or C incorrectly now just means relearning it correctly later.
But it's not a huge issue either.
