Going for my Black sash

This saturday is my grading for my black sash and i guess I am a little aprehensive. My instructor said my grading is not dependant on my forms which is a relief because not all my forms are perfect but I would like to do better in them. I am actually the only one going for black sash. I would have graded with the with the other black sashes (who actually have not been training as long as me) but i was on holiday. But I am in no hurry, I really want to earn it and not see it as a trophy. I think a black belt/sash should represent more than just being able to dispense of an enemy quickly. THey should be knowledgeable, yet humble and only use their skills when there is no other option. Wish me luck!
