Core Training Exercises

For a couple of months I’ve added a standard ā€˜youtube’ core muscle exercise routine to the end of my thrice weekly gym session.

I really feel no particular benefit or indeed different, so I added cable trunk rotations and sit ups/crunches and Roman chair hyper extensions. I do enough reps to get a burn or hold the static exercises for 30 seconds(side planks anre very challenging) and sit ups/rotations to failure. I’ve experience no real soreness except in my lower lats and as I’ve said, no particular benefit from these apparently ā€œā€¦vital set of musclesā€ (what are they even doing?)

Has anyone had a similar experience or can offer any tips to optimise my sessions?

Rollouts. I swear by 'em, and sometimes at them. They even sort-of work as an exercise with added resistance if you use a loaded barbell as the implement. The other option is gymnastics-style core work, L-sits and all that. You can work up to them with a number of progressions, but then you won't be reading this because you in your superiority have decided that I'm not worth reading.
