Do these conditions allow you to receive disability allowances, grants and other support?Does old age and its accompanying lessening of abilities count as disabilities?
(reduced balance, arthritis, less flexibility, reduced memory, slower, you get the idea)
Generally no, but then it would depend on the severity in the case of arthritisDoes old age and its accompanying lessening of abilities count as disabilities?
(reduced balance, arthritis, less flexibility, reduced memory, slower, you get the idea)
Medical criteria not governmentSo it is only a disability if it meets government criteria?
Yes, because theyāre set by medical professionals. So it is only a disability if it meets government criteria?
Good olā USA!As I understand it, diagnoses of autism or dementia are not classified by government as disabilities and do not entitled the individuals to compensation.
Itās the opposite in the UK but thatās caused by mental illness. My GP friends say they see several patients a day who claim the have stress and anxiety for which they receive ātreatmentā. A few days later the GP receives a complex and in-depth form to be completed by them so the anxious patient to receive significant benefit for their condition from the government. There are websites that tell the sufferer exactly what symptoms to cite in order to maximise their chance of getting benefits. Itās a big issue over and cost a lot of money. The number of people with disabilities in our society is less today than it was yesterday, though not because of changes in improvement of medical treatment.
