Color trim on martial uniforms

Master Black Belt
Awhile back Gyakuto posted some pictures of his uniform with color trim added on the inside. I have not been able to find those pictures. If any one can provide a link or new pictures I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

These colours are on the inside; they cannot be seen when I wear them.

The Tokugawa government forbade the people, especially the samurai (and rich merchant class) from wearing flashy clothing as they espoused Confucianism ideals of modesty. So to get around this they would have beautifully opulent hidden linings of silk and embroidery which was called ‘uramasari’ (裏勝り = ‘the inside surpasses [the outside]’). It was purely for their own viewing pleasure and nobody else’s. I have a few haori with such linings.

The Iaido world (at least in Europe) is just as conservative as the Tokugawa government, so nothing elaborate may be worn. Some have found a loophole and have flashy sageo (cords worn on the sword) and a flashy obi under the hakama which can be seen through the formers side slits!

When I first started teaching at the University I came across a tween jacket with suede patches on the elbows. I wore it until the patches and other places had holes. I would have kept it but my wife threw it out.
