I've been training in BJJ for a while. I love reading stuff from the BJJ guru, I learn lots of cool stuff. I was wondering where you guys are reading? And which sites can help me improve my grappling techniques?
Videos on YT are helpful but I think I obsessively went through all of them already...
Today, after a BJJ class, my fourth ever so far, the main black belt gathered around all of the people who trained with me for a sort of group-talk session. You will find out why this is relevant in a minute, bear with me, as I first want to say that I believe the reason and the philosophy...

Is there a different way to train? Is the current Academy model the only way to learn BJJ? What are the things that you would change about your gym, and how you would do it better?

Hey all. I haven't been on the forums in some time. Looking to become more active in the online communities again. Anyway, thought I'd share the technique that is foundational to my entire mount game.
So I've started training BJJ 7-8 Weeks ago, so you'd call me the new guy right? That's what I thought.
However, I've been left stumped recently with my training and how well its going; let me give context.
- I'm the only White Belt with no stripes.
- I have previous experience in Karate and...

Basically, this bjj place opened pretty much right down the street from my house and I’m really thinking of joining because I want to do bjj for exercise and self defense. Can a expert in bjj tell me if this gym is legit? I’ll leave a link
Combat Sports Center | MMA Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Muay Thai
Here's an explanation why people should stop teaching BJJ for self defense.
Little to no striking - BJJ has little to no striking. BJJ claims that you can subdue an attacker peacefully without striking or kicking. The problem is that if you have to avoid strikes and kicks to counter them, your...
hi, I’m a 46 yr old former wrestler, I did Crossfit for the last 8 years and I’m looking for something a little more fulfilling than just working out. My primary goal was to find a martial art for exercise. As i researched more Krav Maga kept coming up on my radar. We have Andrew schools that...
Hi,
So I'm new on this website and I thought it would be a good idea to ask for self defense advice.
I did taekwondo for six years and wing chun for 10 months. And fitness kickboxing for two months. However, I still am not confident these styles will help me as I'm sure you know that they...

My dream in life is to compete in the 2024 Olympics although i also want to be able to make a living from martial arts , being honest I havent had the same love...
It's the mid 90s and the martial arts world has discovered Brazilian Jiu Jitsu after the launch of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. It's going to be a while before BJJ becomes part of the martial arts scene back in the source of jiu jitsu, Japan, but Japan already has some mixed martial arts...
Hi - first time poster here
I am the only female in my class of no gi/bjj but I mostly train another martial art (one stripe white belt in bjj). I stopped doing bjj especially no gi because I found men would constantly try to smash me to the point that I was just avoiding getting seriously...
I pretty much have taken the idea from that lineage website etc Feel free to post your lineage and see where it traces to. IMO it is very important to know where your specific Martial Art comes from. You don't want to learn from someone who learned from some guy in the back of a laundromat. How...
I have always loved to strike, and recently taken up muay thai and boxing as a side dish to BJJ.
I have chronic illness (lupus) and nearly 3 months out of chemo and radio therapy for another illness (breast cancer) and i want to get as strong and fit as my body will allow me so that i'll be in...
In sampling a few arts, I've heard a variety of thoughts on relaxation and would love to get thoughts on this from an MMA perspective. How relaxed is too relaxed? How much tension is too much tension? What complementary muscle groups do you activate/deactivate in different scenarios?
Do you practice Wing Chun? If so, what methods from other arts (e.g. BJJ, Systema, FMA, etc.) have you taken from/incorporated into your Wing Chun? How have you adapted those methods to conform to Wing Chun principles?

Quick Kill #1..Had great success with this. It's so quick and basic when practised. It sure gets a nasty tap when it's on too. :wtf: Even little points and details would be brilliant to sharpen this up as I find it works for me as an individual, used this very one three times serving in UK LE...
Hey all! Thanks for taking the time to read this post, and thanks in advance for whatever advice you have.
I'm a 20yo student taking time off of college to figure out what I want to do with my life. I'm spending April-September in Washington D.C. and want to explore martial arts while I'm...
