Weapon scarfs

I'm not sure if this question belongs here or general weapons but I put it here because the weapon is Chinese saber, I asked my instructor yet he didn't know so I ask here wondering if different colors of scarfs meant different meanings

To my opinion scarfs and tassels are show objects with no meaning at all. If you take a look at old paintings, statues etc. none of the weapons have a scarf or tassel.
If you come to think of it, on the battlefield they will not be very handy would they.

Depends somewhat on the system and the practitioner, I think. We often put a red scarf on swords and on spears. Red is a symbol of combat (blood), recognizing that those forms have ties to combative systems.
