Interesting article written by former employees in the two mentioned jobs.

13 things your waiter won't tell you... interesting reading. http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/food/user-post-13-things-your-waiter-wont-tell-you-479179/

plus 30 things your Pizza boy won't tell you...

Part 1: 13 things http://www.rd.com/advice-and-know-how/13-things-your-pizza-guy-wont-tell-you/article122354.html

Part 2: 17 MORE things http://www.rd.com/advice-and-know-how/17-more-things-your-pizza-guy-wont-tell-you/article122368.html

As a guy who waited tables and delivered Pizzas I can relate. They can be thankless jobs so treat them right and you'll enjoy your food more.

I worked at an Italian restaurant/takeout place through high school and college. I gotta tell you, that's all true. Do not ***** with the people who handle your food!

Dude, don't tell me things like that!

Man, you have no idea. There was this one dude who was a real tool who was always causing trouble for my coworkers and I. He even went as far as complaining to my boss about being on hold too long when he was making his take out order (and the dude worked on the same block, he could have easily just walked over). Needless to say, this guy always got extras in his order.

People think that because you are working in the service industry you are some sort of slave and can be talk to and about you in any sort of way. You should see the movie Waiting, it's the best depiction of working in a restaurant I've seen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waiting...

None of these things scares me too much. Of course, it helps when you don't feel compelled to be a dick to people trying to do a job.

I always tip well and know they remember and talk to each other. I never wait more than 10 minutes when I order a pizza. :)

Besides...many moons ago I waited a table or two and know how it can be. Unless the service is absolutely horrible, I always tip well.

I worked in the resturaunt industry for probably 15 years. Although I always heard rumors of those kind of "extras" at other places, I never once saw it actually take place. And if I did, I wouldn`t have let it happen.Period.

I have too much pride in what I do.

It really does take about 10 to 15 minutes to make & bake a pizza. I'm skeptical if the delivery service beats that time -- unless they're giving you the pizza someone else ordered.

I always try to tip well simply because with the economy being the way it is and seems to have been since I can remember, it might be me out there.
