And this is why I like Russians.

Well, ok, not the WHOLE reason. A tiny part of it but.

Russians dont wear Shoes.
Shoes are for the Weak.
The Stone and Gravel Condition Their Feet, about as much as Spinning Heel Kicks Condition Their Skulls.

Sounds like a humpback whale in the background...

So much for all those who say you cannot use high kicks in self defense situations.

That looks exactly how the spin hook kick is applied in hapkido, more so than taekwondo.

Very nice. I have used taekwondo in self defense, though I utilized far more conservative techniques.
Ah Daniel, Youtube no like conservative; Youtube like flamboyant. Flamboyant get views. Flamboyant bring advertising (or potential strike to crotch!)

True. Wouldn't have been my choice, but you can't argue with effective.

Why not? The guy was flat footed (immobile) with his hands down. Can you think of a better posture to call "begging to be kicked in the head"?
:)

I was a little curious about that myself, but then you could argue that his problem may have been that he was thinking to much instead of prepping himself. That kick was, technically speaking, far from great, but with optimal results. I'm a pretty technical guy, but I'll be the first to admit that power buys a lot of forgiveness.

I don't think it's luck to recognise where an opponent is open and strike there.

Valid point, but to your earlier post, as flat footed as he was, I think he could have hit him anywhere he wanted.

Wouldn't have been my personal choice because I like my crotch and he was begging to be punched in the mouth just as much as he was begging to be kicked. My personal SD philosophy is, waist or above, hands, waist or below, feet, with the waist being the area of overlap.

I'm not criticizing the guy in the video; I speak for myself only, as I don't consider my own high kicks to be all that good.
