Here is one ITF organization in Australia. I don't know which one it is. But the number of clubs looks tiny compared to the Taekwondo Australia page.

Maybe ten or fifteen total. Everyone thinks ITF is this massive organization, but really it is not.

That might all be true, except for the fact that in the 45 year history of the ITF in the US, there are about 10,000 1st dan members. No way of getting around that.

Im not trying to - Numbers are numbers. Whilst 10,000 sounds a bit low (Id be aiming around 25,000), Ill take it.

And a lot of those ITF members in the US have converted to kukkiwon certification. I don't see it being that large outside of the US, perhaps canada, maybe. But China is catching up. Taekwondo schools are sprouting up all over the place there, and someday there may be more kukkiwon poom and dan holders in china that the whole world combined. That place is booming.

Trying checking your own martial arts supply houses. Every once in a while Barnes and Noble here sells an australian taekwondo magazine, so it must be bigger than just a couple few very large clubs.

Youd be surprised. Most MA Supply Stores I know dont sell anything more than Hogu [As far as TKD goes. I cant really phrase that more clearly without turning it into a paragraph though]. And as for Magazines, the ITF, GTF, RITA and various other Orgs here dont do Magazines. At all. Ever. In fact, we dont advertise any more than a sign outside the Dojang. Most MA Supply Houses around here sell Boxing and Karate gear. Mostly Karate gear.
It amuses Me often that We use Boxing Focus Mitts and Kickboxing Labeled Shields.

As for China, Id believe that. KKW TKD isnt a stretch away from Northern Kung Fu.
(Im not comparing them. Im saying it isnt outlandish)

Thats just it but - Thats the Il Shim ITF. Its a Sub Branch.
Watch this:
Heres two more ITFs.
http://www.queensland-selfdefence.com.au/
http://www.itftaekwondo.com/
Lets throw in another:
http://www.itftaekwondo.com/uniteditf/

Point is, the ITF isnt one big Organisation like the KKW. Its many Sub-Groups under the ITF Banner teaching the ITF Method.

EDIT:
For Fun;
Have another!
http://www.itftaekwondoaustralia.com/
And another!
http://www.aaitf.org.au/
And another!
http://www.yellowpages.com.au/qld/t...e-kwon-do-australia-itf-14319252-listing.html

EDIT 2:
More?
http://www.taekwondo.org.au/

I can do this all day :D

Incase I need to clarify, lets take Il Shim and the Thoroughbred ITF. Both of them are ITF Canada, as oppose to North Korea or Vienna.
They are the same Organisation.
They partake in the same Tournaments.
And so forth.

But the answer to the same Administration.

Edit 3:
Whee!

Tkd in Australia is heaps bigger than "a couple few very large clubs" (whatever that means). I have at least 10-15 tkd classes that will take place tonight within walking distance of my house. Tkd clubs are everywhere over here, its just that the vast majority are not kukkiwon. I know Australia is tiny in the grand scheme of things, but surely we are not the only country like this.

Regarding the OP, no one's mentioned this yet, or maybe I missed it, but was anyone else really bothered by the arrogance of the guy who executed the kick? The hands down, clowning around he did took his opponent out of his gameplan and obviously confused him, but man, it did nothing for me as a fan. I'd never voluntarily watch that guy in another fight, and as an athlete in a spectator sport, that's not a good thing.

Bothered? Oh, hell yes.
Speaking as a fan, he's the guy I want to see get hammered and fall down all atwitchin'. As a trainer, he's the guy I want my guys to fight. As an instructor, I sincerely feel bad for his.

If you're a fighter and die and go to heaven, that's the guy God gives you in round one because he likes you. :)

actually I was talking to a couple of guys at work the other day who train at a club in your org. Ive known them for years but never knew they were tkdists. One of them is an instructor at a club down towards the gold coast and gave me a card and invited me to come along and train with them one night. If Im ever up that way Im thinking of taking them up on the offer, but Im currently spending most of my time in NSW. They spoke highly of your org and sounded very knowledable regarding all things tkd.

The other reason promoters may want him is as a 'bad guy' to their local fighter, as I said though he will have been seriously gripped by his coaches for that performance. I notice he's not not on the team photos, I might actually ask if he is fighting out of London Shoot because that is a very serious place to train at, they don't take fools.
