You are right! If I step in and you step back, none of my attacks will land on you. This is why the best time for me to step in is when you also try to step in.

During a head on collision, even if I may create a hole, since the time is too short (may be 1/4 second), it may be difficult for you to take advantage on it.

In theory, to take advantage on the hole,

1. case -> -> , you may have 1 second.
2. case -> - , you may have 1/2 second.
3. case -> <- . you may have 1/4 second.
