have known for awhile if i want to start teaching martial arts i need to break away from my fighter mentality, but that is so hard to do grew up fighting disabilities, people, situations, life, etc. am following all the steps i think need to take just so hard to break away from it! any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

If you are currently a student somewhere see if there are leadership opportunities. I got started that way. Where I learned karate they always let the senior students lead warm ups and stretching. I then got involved with tournament judging, belt testing, and being a substitute instructor. I think doing the judging was probably the biggest push for me because it was the first time I had to stand up and talk infront of a ton of people. I was a center judge.

Later on I started teaching my family at home and now we've branched out and are a few months into teaching students. If you can successfully teach your kids karate then you can teach just about anyone. :D

It doesn’t sound like you’re anywhere near ready to teach (it’s difficult to understand your lightly punctuated post, to be honestšŸ™šŸ½). You’d benefit from some progressive, very close mentoring by a experienced teacher and possibly augmented with psychological counselling to vent your emotions safely.

Anyway, why do you want to engage in the soul-destroying activity that is teaching a combat-based sporting activity?

know i can teach it it, i have done it, just need to get comfortable standing before people, seems my self-esteem and confidence is lacking but working on that and been working on my anger for like 30 years it has greatly improved, but this working on yourself is quiet interesting to say the least and i love it, there are others out there that i could help with teaching martial arts so first is helping people first and foremost.

What is your day job? It can help more than you may think.
Honestly, being really, really good at doing something and being able to Teach it to someone else effectively are two completely different things.
Look into communication or speaking courses if this is where you are weak. It does matter.

im on disability, as able to work but its hard as i have balance problems(which i have found people don't like much also slur my words at times so the two together makes me look like im drunk or on something, even my instructor thought i had come to class drunk at first, so its hard but doable, even police think im drunk at first, im thankful that police do come to my dojo as they can finally see.

Hmm. I would get into a school that will possible give you credit for what you know and work toward teaching within their framework. This would give you confidence in succeeding, confidence in communication in class and then possibly confidence in teaching if that possiblity reveals itself.
