Sanshou and grappling in Kung fu

MOndays is our san shou classes which i really enjoy as its a lot different to what we do the rest of the time. we work on all kinds of techinques using more grapling than anything. Considering a lot of fights go to the ground it is useful to have some experience grappling and being able to use throws and take downs. Do any of you have classes like this and if so what kind of techniques and training do you have? I am interested in exchaning ideas on training.

It'd be considered "Shuai" for the throwing & takedowns, but not necessarily what we think of nowadays as "Shuai Jiao" by Chang's lineage & popularity.

Almost all CMA contains "Shuai" in it. Some more than others, but almost all have a built in method for putting somebody on the ground by a throwing or tripping method. Chen Taiji, Praying Mantis, Songshan Shaolin Boxing are some as examples that are known pretty well for their takedowns, throws, trips, etc... that are "shuai" but not readily called "Shuai Jiao".

Cung Le is offering a BJJ class at his San Jose club. I think you may get your answers if you contact the club.
Crap... Cung Le + BJJ == bad days ahead for many people in the ring against him... Better them than me...

Is this from Shuai Chou, or does San Shou have its own grappling system?

As you may know san shou is Chinese kickboxing with grappling incorporated so you can strike as well as use throws in matches. THis is what we practice in our san shou classes. A lot of the throws loook like judo throws but bear in mind you are using gloves.
