Hi there--

I studied in the early 60s so I'm older than most of you. My sensei studied under Ueshiba and we only had three belt rankings: white, brown and black. After studying for almost six years, I had achieved a brown belt. Then my sensei returned to Okinawa and unlike the Karate Kid, I couldn't follow.

For the past 30 years, I have been giving classes on self-protection to women and girls, showing them the great abilities they already have and the training they could discover through aikido. Now that I'm almost 62 and have arthritis, I walk with a cane but have no fear of vulnerability. Glad to be on this forum!

Welcome and let me ask you, do you also teach any crane defense since you are using one? The reason is alot of elderly people I know have learn crane defense for protection as well.
