Well, God couldn't have been too upset, the statue was undamaged. Put a little torque into your strikes next time God. Rotate from the hips!

It was a chi bolt. The statues liver will explode in 3 years (unless the statue was wiggling its toes, in which case it will be fine)

I would be watching that statue really closely if I was Rio de Janeiro. Lightning has dreadful powers of animation. Just ask Tokyo.

Hmmm, A tall hill. An object made of concrete and most likely metal frame is truck by lightening. I imagine this is not the first time. Nor the last.

Considering the odds that it was only hit once, AND that someone happened to take a picture at that exact instance in time... I agree, it's probably fairly common.
