As to why the gunman didn't shoot him right there... He kind of wanted to get away clean with this one so he wouldn't be charged with murder AND attempted robbery if he failed. Easy catch for the boy really.

It's no easy thing for a twelve year old boy to do. Whatever the robbers motivation for taking off after he was disarmed it was a great feat for a child. If that where my boy I would be proud as hell
