I would also say those who have commented on the MMA environment as controlling outcomes or favoring same, that was definitely a deciding principles here.

Sam McVae, Sam Langford, Harry Wills and Joe Jeanette were all brilliant black boxers who were denied a shot at the world title because of their skin color. So these guys just used to pummel each other and pass the 'colored' belt back and forth.

Thanks for that. It was a great read. MMA bout, and rope-a-dope, all just after the turn of the 20th century. Who knew?
