In my opinion concerning kicks - there are nuances.
You kick air differently than you kick people you’re sparring with. You kick people you’re sparring differently than you kick bags.
You kick bags differently than you kick boards in order to break them.
You throw breaking kicks differently than you throw kicks in kata.
You throw kicks in kata differently than you throw kicks in demonstrations.
You throw kicks in demos differently than you throw kicks at a makiwara or a tree.
You throw those kicks differently than you throw kicks in mirror work.
You throw mirror kicks differently than you throw kicks in a street fight.
You throw kicks in a street fight differently than you throw kicks when sparring with your students in order to teach them.
You throw those kicks differently than when you’re showing off to your girlfriend.
You throw all of those differently than when you’re pushing yourself past the point of exhaustion.
Some might argue that they throw kicks the same way in every circumstance.
They are either one in a million and should be celebrated and applauded, or they are all full of sheet.
