Before you received your Black Belt or instructors certificate what where you required to l learn and how well did it have to be done when executing the material before they earned a black belt?

For my first black belt I needed to learn 9 katas and 100 techniques (TKD) they had to be good but perfection was not asked for.

For my first Dan in Sikaran I think I had 12 kata, be able to fight 5 men at least one with a weapon ( at the same time), and survive the whole test ( there was hours of fighting, it seemed). WE didn't just do the forms once either we did them many times to make sure we could do them under stress and being tired. You needed endurance and the willingness to not stop or give up as much as anything. The forms had to be damn good and the fighting had to be extremely well done. The other parts of the test had to be known without thought and done correctly.
