The Da Vinci Code

I won't be seeing the movie until later next week, but I have read the book. Have you done either yet, Cali?
 
Well, I wanted Julie Delpy to play Sophie Neveu - not Adrey Tatau. :)

I enjoyed the book, although I realized the "Priory of Sion" is largely a fraud perpetrated by the late French conman, Pierre Plantard, but I'm not going to rush to see the movie. Unless some folks that I highly respect on this board say, "Jonathan, go see it", I think that I will wait until it comes out in DVD.

V for Vendetta, though, that one I would love to see in theatre again!

I read the book and really enjoyed it - and I don't usually read mysteries. However, I have heard a very poor review from our local news reviewer, whom I usually trust - he said that it dragged, and was nearly 2 1/2 hours long. For what theaters cost these days, I may very well wait for the DVD, especially since it's not a movie dependent on special effects... now, X-3, that I want to see in a theater.
 
I haven't read the book yet though I do have it. I have been hooked on Augusten Bourroughs...so...when I get through all his stuff I'll tackle the Da Vinci Code. I'm in no rush to see the movie.

I definitely wanna see X3 ... but we have a Cinetopia theater near here where you can sit in a huge leather recliner, eat fine appetizers, sip wine and watch a movie. So any excuse to have the ball and chain take me there is one I'm going to find.
 
Well, I must be the ONLY person on the planet NOT to have read this book, but I thought the film was fine. I was able to be carried along on a fine tale of adventure. People have said that they won't necessarily go and see the film because of the hype, I was like that with the book. The only thing DB seems to have done is popularise certain theories on Grail lore, and fair play to him for that.
 
Loved the book; was disappointed by the movie.

They sugar-coated a lot of stuff and went the PC route, probably due to all the pressure from the church.

It was so-so.

I've read the book 4 times.

Have not seen the film yet.

As far as the protest by the Catholic church goes.....the should thank Dan Brown. It's the most airtime they've gotten in quite a while.:rolleyes:
 
I just started to read the book. I haven't really gotten hooked on it yet but I am only on chapter 5.
 
I haven't read the book, but the movie wasn't too bad (putting aside religious views). It moved a little too slow for my taste at first. Then again, I was tired and I'm not usually a fan of those movies for the exact reason I said at the start (about it being slow moving).
 
I thought it was great. It is one of the best movie to foiollow a book yet.

I saw the DA VINCI CODE on saturday an d it was a good movie. could

have been better but all together a good movie. and since I am a christian

it did raise some questions but my faith is stronger then that . the main

thing about the movie is that it gets people ot talk about JESUS which is a

good thing now I don't belive everything in the book but some things

could have happend or not have nobody knows and probley never will

The Church stamped out rebel christian sects throughout history... so what? Its not about faith, its just a few details of an obviously rich history of the last 2000 years. Even outright lies become a truth if enough people believe it. The book reveals some tidbits about what was believed by rebels to catholic authority. Its not a big deal. I don't plan to see the movie until it comes on regular TV. I read the book.

I've read the book, and seen the movie. As an adaptation, it was very well done. However, the most dramatic line in the movie (you'll recognize it) got snickers and giggles instead of the dramatic "ooooh" that was expected.
