If you were strictly limited to no more than ten minutes each day to pursue your martial training, what would you work on? What is the fundamental essence of your martial practice that, if practiced each day all by itself, would still advance your martial development?

Weekly: deadlift and stretching one day. Pullups and chinups second day. Other days AMRAP of one technique.

Ten minutes is a very short time, only five kata or going thru kihon once.

I would work on moving offline, aggressive defense and explosive power combos.

Really good question, and it depends if I can alternate what I do for those 10 minutes in each session, but I don't think that's what you're asking haha.

I would probably try to squeeze in basic technique (strikes, blocks, kicks etc), forms/kata definitely (maybe only one or two). If I had no partner, a quick round of bagwork, or with a partner some sparring. But honestly to simplify it probably forms if we're talking the fundamental essence.

I have actually managed to do all these in about 10 minutes when needed though.

Face north - drill groin kick, face punch combo.
Face east - drill jab, hook, uppercut combo.
Face south - drill front kick, roundhouse kick, side kick combo.
Face west - drill foot sweep, leading arm jam, reverse neck choke combo.

Next day, change 4 different combo drills.

Option 1: 10 minutes of fighting (but it requires a partner)
Option 2: 10 minuters of "todays technique which can vary" on heavy bag or some dummy

I would do the same things I do now, just for less time. I would NOT pick one thing and train that exclusively.

My superfast miniexercise I do in 3x2min when i dont get around to real karate exercise is, spread out over the day, 40 pushups ~ 1 minute, then immediately after that i do handgrips for one minute. If I do that 3 times a day, and it at least keeps my chest, arms and clench force active. Its also effective just anaerobic muscle exercises as its so fast.
