I was wondering if I learn to do the splits while supporting myself on the ground with my arms and when I finally achieve the splits my chest would be on the floor. Am I going to be able to lift my body to an upright position? Should I try to get into the splits starting with an upright posture so when I get to the floor I am upright? Also, does supporting yourself with a wall or floor prevent you from really stretching and improving your flexibility? It seems like to me that you wouldn't really be stretching if you took all the pressure off you legs and used the wall as a crutch. What do you guys think?
